Frequently Asked Questions about Saraband's technology

This page will hopefully give insight into our thinking before, during, and since our research project began.  A common line of questioning can be paraphrased like this: "All communications systems need and use channel estimates, to some extent.  What is different and/or better about the Saraband technique?  Can Saraband quantify the difference?"  These are great questions.  We hashed out these and many other questions amongst ourselves, and drank a lot of Starbuck's coffee in the process, for several years.  We can confidently say that our technology, in one form or another, will form the core of advanced generations of broadband.  In this section on FAQs, we hope to enlighten you on the benefits of our technology.

Frequently Asked Questions (Under Construction)

1) What is wrong with legacy channel estimation techniques?

2) Can Saraband's approach be used with WiFi?

3) Can it be used with WiMax?

4) What about licensed bands?  Is the situation the same as unlicensed?

5) How fast do channels change?  Can Saraband's circuits keep up?

6) Doesn't MIMO compensate for not knowing channels accurately?

7) Aren't smart antennas a substitute for accurate channel knowledge?

8) Will the Saraband approach apply to CDMA? To TDD/FDD channels? To OFDM? To broadband serial data?

9) Isn't Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) sufficient?  Why is phase distortion knowledge so important?
